What a San Diego Proposal Package Actually Includes
Proposal packages in San Diego range from $225 to $2,000+, and the price alone tells you almost nothing. Here is what is inside a package, how add-ons and cancellation terms differ, and how to compare two quotes honestly.
You Propose Team
"Proposal package" means something different for every vendor category, and often for every vendor. A $325 package and a $1,500 package can both be a proposal shoot. The difference is inside the package, not in the number.

Photography packages
Photography is where the range is widest. Live San Diego-area proposal packages run from $225 to $1,500.

What actually separates them:
- Coverage length. Thirty minutes, an hour, two hours. This is the single biggest driver.
- Deliverables. Number of edited photos and turnaround time.
- Location scope. A San Diego package and a destination package from the same photographer are priced differently — one listed photographer prices San Diego at $900 and destination at $1,200.
Add-ons are where quotes diverge
Add-ons are priced separately and are the most common reason two quotes that look identical aren't. Real add-ons currently listed by San Diego-area photographers:
- Film photos — $75 to $350 depending on the photographer and how many rolls
- Additional 30 minutes of coverage — $150 to $200
- Additional hour of coverage — $250
- Drone — $350
- A "marry me" sign — $295
Compare the base package and the add-ons you'd realistically want. A $490 package plus $350 of film is not a $490 booking.
Florals
Floral packages are priced by what gets installed, and the good ones bundle the logistics.
- Two ground florals — $800
- Pillar installation with pedestal rentals — $1,500
- 6–8 ft ground installation with candles — $2,000
All three include delivery, setup, and teardown. That inclusion is worth checking on any floral quote — a florist who doesn't tear down leaves you with a problem after the yes.
Venues
A venue package buys you a guaranteed time window, and the fine print is about who else is allowed inside it.
- Partially private morning slot — $550 for the hour, photographer and/or videographer only, no setup, up to 10 guests
- Private hourly — $1,250/hr Mon–Thurs, additional vendors allowed, stepping up to $1,550/hr Fri–Sun and $1,850/hr on holiday weekends
The detail proposers miss: setup and teardown time counts against your booked hours. If you're bringing florals into a venue slot, the install eats paid time.
Experiences
Experience packages are the setup itself rather than a service. Currently listed in San Diego: a classic heart arch at $750 and a deluxe heart arch at $895.
Cancellation terms are part of the package
Every package on You Propose carries a cancellation policy, and they are not the same across vendors. Live San Diego packages use flexible, moderate, and strict terms, and one venue uses its own contract terms that you agree to directly with the venue.
Read the policy before you book, not after. Two packages at the same price with different cancellation terms are different products — especially for an outdoor proposal where weather may force a date change.
How to compare two quotes honestly
- Normalize the coverage. Put both quotes on the same number of minutes.
- Add the add-ons you'd actually buy. Then compare.
- Check what's included versus billed separately — delivery, setup, teardown, travel.
- Read both cancellation policies.
- Check the deliverable, not just the shoot. Photo count and turnaround are the thing you keep.
